4 Easy Indoor Exercise Activities

Whether you’re working or learning from home right now, it’s important to stay active for both your physical and sensory health. Burn off some excess energy and keep away cabin fever with some of these tips:

1. Try to spend at least 30 minutes twice a day focused on movement.

Climb up and down your stairs, do jumping jacks in your driveway, drop and give yourself 20 push-ups in the kitchen, whatever you have to do to wake up your muscular and sensory systems with some proprioceptive feedback.

2. Living with limited mobility? Work with what you have!

Simply stretching your arms with an exercise band, squeezing and pulling hand putty, or lifting free weights can have a big impact on your health and mood.

3. Household chores count as physical activity, too.

Mopping, sweeping, carrying laundry, even reorganizing books and furniture are great ways to keep the family active while also keeping your shared environment tidy.

4. Don’t forget to mix it up and have fun!

Play some Twister, challenge each other to a sit-up contest, or toss around some of those extra rolls of toilet paper you picked up at Costco. As long as you’re moving around, you’re doing your body and your family a great benefit.
